Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer coin valuations?

Yes, we can value your collection from the following link: Valuations

How do I place a bid?

Navigate to the lot's page by clicking on its link. Then enter your maximum bid and click Place Bid. Then click Confirm bid to place your bid. You may be asked to sign in first. The maximum bid is the maximum amount you're willing to pay for the lot. We will then bid on your behalf to try to win the lot at the lowest possible price (one bidding step above the second highest bid, or the reserve price in the event of a single bid).

I placed a bid, and I was immediately outbid, how does that work?

The leading bidder's proxy bid was higher. For example, if the current bid is $60 and a bidder bids $100, this means they want to win the item at the lowest possible price not exceeding $100. The lowest possible price is one bidding step above $60, so the bid will be displayed as $65. If you then go on and bid $80, the lowest possible price would be one bidding step above $80, so the current bid becomes $85 and you're still not winning the item as the other bidder has a proxy bid of $100.

Can I see what the proxy bid is?

You can only see your own proxy bids. Displaying other bidders' proxy bids would defeat the purpose of letting bidders win items at the lowest possible price, as anyone could just push up the price of a lot.

I was winning an item when the auction ended but I didn't end up winning it. What happened?

You were outbid at the live auction. Our auctions work like regular English auctions where lots are called one by one and sold to the highest bidder. The date and time specified in the listing is the starting time for the live auction session, not an ending date. Bids placed before this date are proxy bids where we will bid on your behalf at the live event to try to win the lot at the lowest possible price. You can participate in the live auction by clicking the Auction Room link on our home page.

How much is the Buyer's Premium?

We don't charge any Buyer's Premium.

Can I cancel my bid?

It is not possible to cancel bids as by placing a bid, you reveal information about the leading bidder's proxy bid and so it would be unfair to that bidder if your bid was allowed to be cancelled. If you win an item by accident, you can talk to the seller about cancelling the purchase.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment can be made via Paypal or Bank Deposit.

How much does postage cost?

Shipping is paid for by the buyer. Domestic postage starts at $9 and international postage starts at $30.

Do you offer combined postage?

Yes, items can be combined in a single shipment as long as they're all from the same seller. You can do this by checking out all your winnings in a single order.

When will I receive my item?

Most sellers ship orders within 3 working days and Australia Post takes between 1 and 4 working days to ship to most areas within Australia. International postage can take between 10 and 30 working days.

How are shipments insured?

The seller is responsible for reasonably ensuring all lots are delivered successfully. If the order is not successfully delivered for any reason out of the control of the buyer and anyone else residing at the buyer's address, the buyer is entitled to a refund from the seller.
